Summer Activities, Tours & Chores

Our activity schedule from the summer of 2019:

10:30–11:30AMFarm Tour
Walk the museum grounds as you visit and learn about some of our farm animals as they go about their mornings. Meet such animals as the pigs, chickens, goats, sheep, cows, a Flemish Giant rabbit and Sadie, a miniature horse. Your tour will include a bit of history about the farm and our country doctors, farming changes and animal breeds, and a visit to the Milk House (open for Farm Tour only).


11:30AM–12PM | Drop-In Garden Time
Stop by the gardens and speak with the gardener to learn about what’s growing and being harvested.
Weather dependent.


1:30–2:30PMThe Country Doctor Tour
Step into the Captain Enoch Remick House for a guided medical history tour. The house is the location of the original doctors’ office used by both Doctors Remick. This tour is best suited for ages 12 and up; the building is open for the tour only. This tour continues Monday–Saturday thru November 2, 2019.


2:30PM | Be a Farmer: Help Out with Farm Chores
Help out with light-duty farm chores, such as gather eggs, feed the pigs or give hay to the goats.
Weather dependent.
 

3PM | Meet the Cows/Watch a Machine Milking Demonstration
Join us in the milking parlor of Doc Remick’s historic cattle barn to meet the cows/learn how our dairy cows get milked.


SELECTED THURSDAYS
10–11:30AM | Go on an Outdoor Walk
Learn to recognize the abundance of useful, interesting, edible or medicinal plants on the grounds—some of them may even grow in your yard.

Admission: $5 | FREE for members and children ages 4 and under.
Availability of listed activities may be impacted by the day’s weather or other unpredictable occurrences. Please call 603-323-7591 with any questions. We are proud to be a Blue Star Museum. Active-duty military and their families, and veterans and their guest, receive FREE admission from May 18 thru Saturday, August 31, 2019. Please show ID when checking in at the reception desk.

Celebrate along with us by purchasing our farm-produced meats, pantry items and herbal teas, available in the museum store or see us at the Tamworth Farmers’ Market, Saturdays from 9AM–1PM, at the UU Church at the head of Main Street in Tamworth Village, NH, or at the Sandwich Farmers Market, Wednesdays from 4–6PM, in Sandwich, NH.
