SUMMARY:Marion Miles Remick Bird Walk
DESCRIPTION:During this guided walk\, you’ll discover for yourself the Remick property’s vital role in the lives of migratory birds. \nMarion Miles Remick (1906–1980) lived on this site from her marriage to Doc Remick in 1929 until her death. In addition to her interests in flower gardening\, cats\, and horse racing\, Marion enjoyed birdwatching. \nMarion’s interest in birding may have been encouraged by the grounds where she once lived\, which provide a sweeping landscape and a variety of bird habitats\, including forests\, fields and open water. Avid birders have spotted at least 89 bird species on the Remick grounds — see a sample list on eBird. Learn more about Marion and the “birds of Remick” with your interpretive guide while enjoying the expansive property. \nThe anniversary of Marion’s birth takes place on May 28 — 120 years ago. This activity is one way we honor her contribution to our site’s history\, often overshadowed by our wider story. While on-site\, view a few of Marion’s birding items from the museum’s collection. \nActivity length: 45–60 minutes.\nBinoculars are recommended; dress for outdoor weather and changing conditions underfoot.\nTerrain: gravel paths\, uneven grassy fields and inclines. \n$5  |  FREE for members*\n*Remick Ramblers and Museum Maven levels only.\nFor ages 12+\, ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.\nSpots are limited; preregistration is required.\nWays to register: Online | Call (603) 323-7591 | Email | On-site at the front desk no later than 10:45 a.m.\nDress for the weather and ground conditions of the day. \nRegistration & Cancellation Policies \n  \n\nMarion’s birding guides — complete with handwritten notes — and binoculars can be seen in her office area of the mid-century-style apartment she shared with her husband\, Doc Remick. \n\nMarion and Doc Remick. Date and location unknown. \n  \nRELATED ACTIVITIES\n \nA deeper dive into Marion’s world: \n+ Visit the Marion Miles Remick Memorial Garden\, located in front of the Museum Barn. \n+ Walk through the modest 2nd-floor apartment Marion shared with Doc Remick for 51 years (including her small kitchen—complete with a wood stove\, her hallway office\, and the hand-painted “wallpaper” she commissioned for their den). The apartment is located in the Museum Center. \n+ Beginning Birding\, Saturday\, May 2\, 11:00 a.m.

SUMMARY:School-to-Farm Day 2026 (Carroll County)
DESCRIPTION:Once again\, New Hampshire Agriculture in the Classroom returns to Remick with its School-to-Farm Day for Carroll County! We look forward to welcoming this year’s local crop of fourth graders\, who are eager to learn about various types and forms of agriculture in New Hampshire and how they impact their lives. \nWhat are School-to-Farm Days?\nAs stated on the New Hampshire Agriculture in the Classroom website\, “The event brings together 4th-grade students from different elementary schools throughout the county for a day of learning about the importance of agriculture. Farmers and other professionals are on hand to present mini-lessons and demonstrations on topics such as beekeeping\, sheep raising\, wool carding and spinning\, dairy cows\, oxen\, maple sugaring\, vegetable production\, soil ecology\, chickens and more. Students visit the stations\, meet the experts\, see the animals and experience a taste of farm life.” EVENT FLYER \nRemick Country Doctor Museum & Farm has been pleased to serve as the host site for this impactful event for several years. If you are interested in participating — whether as a class or a demonstrator\, contact New Hampshire Agriculture in the Classroom to learn what’s possible. (This event is closed to the general public.) \n  \nTHE MISSION OF NEW HAMPSHIRE AGRICULTURE IN THE CLASSROOM\nOur goal is to increase the agricultural literacy of New Hampshire’s youth. Educational materials help to integrate agriculture\, food and natural resources into K-12 classrooms. By applying authentic agricultural examples to teach core curriculum concepts in science\, social studies\, math\, language arts and nutrition\, student awareness can be improved. These programs cultivate an understanding and appreciation of the food\, fiber and fuel systems that we all depend upon every day. \nLEARN MORE \nDIY SCHOOL-TO-FARM LESSONS \n  \n
