Rural healthcare is how our story began!

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

National Rural Health Day

Celebrating the Power of Rural

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21

____________

Learn more about rural health care in New Hampshire!
Thursday, November 21 is National Rural Health Day, an event promoted by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH). To mark the event, we honor the medical care provided to Tamworth and surrounding towns by our namesake country doctors, Dr. Edwin Remick (1866–1935) and his son Dr. Edwin C. Remick (1903–1993).

In addition, we recognize the ongoing work of our neighbors at the Tamworth Community Nurse Association (TCNA), an effort that is, remarkably, in its 103rd year. With a new, modern facility that opened this past summer, the association is going strong in their efforts to “ensure no one in the town of Tamworth [goes] without healthcare due to financial difficulties or the lack of access to the healthcare system.”

  • A TCNA fundraiser is going on now: purchase a limited series Christmas ornament — hand-painted by New Hampshire artist Jessica Fligg — at their location behind the Town Offices at 86 Main Street in Tamworth Village or at the Tamworth Farmers’ Market.

Statewide, the mission and function of the New Hampshire Rural Health and Primary Care office in Concord — a NOSORH member — is to support communities and stakeholders that provide innovative and effective access to quality health care services with a focus on the low income, uninsured, and Medicaid populations of New Hampshire. We thank them for providing the coloring sheets linked below.
