Farm Fun in the Summertime

Ah... summertime on the farm. Bask in the fun!
This summer, hit the refresh button by joining us on our historic farmstead—an agricultural, natural, and picturesque landscape for your safe, guided activities and self-led farmsplorations. All generations can enjoy this season’s lineup of unplugged family-fun experiences.

All scheduled activities are approximately one hour long and require preregistration by 2PM the day prior. Space is limited, we suggest you register early. Call 603-323-7591 to register (please leave a message if you are unable to get through to the front desk)!

10AM & 1PM | Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
There's no better way to get to know us. Once known as Hillsdale Dairy, walk the grounds as you learn about our historic farm and how the land is being used today. Plus, meet the “stars” of the tour—our pastured farm animals—at each of their distinct locations and gain exclusive access to a Remick barn or two.
$5 for ages 5 and up; free for ages 4 and under.
SATURDAY SPECIAL Recieve 20% off both tours when also joining us for the Remick Country Doctor Tour (tour open to ages 12 and over) on the same day.

  • Preregistration required by 2PM the day prior; ten (10) spots available. Call 603-323-7591.

9AM | Wednesday thru Saturday

Join us for an entertaining hike with a Remick goat. Before setting out, your hike leader will help you get to know your furry, frolicking companions. Then, take a turn guiding a goat along the pathway. The hike is approximately .6 miles long with varied terrain. Questions about the hike? Email your guide, Jim Cruickshank.
$10 for ages 5 and up; free for ages 4 and under.

  • Preregistration required by 2PM the day prior. Twelve (12) spots available for your pod. Reservations taken by phone only. Note: Bookings have been brisk. Don’t miss out on your preferred date—call today! First come, first served; phone messages will be honored in the order in which they are received.
  • This is a “pod-exclusive” activity: gather a group of up to twelve (12) people with whom you wish to share the walk; a minimum of two paid tickets is required per pod/group.
  • This activity is subject to cancellation due to severe weather. In the event of cancellation, every reasonable effort will be made to reschedule your hike.

11AM | Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Enter the front door of the stately Captain Enoch Remick House to find yourself in a traditional front hallway, once non-traditionally used as the waiting area for the medical office of the Drs. Remick. From there, learn about our father and son country doctors as you're guided through the first-floor rooms that served as purposeful areas of their combined medical practice. This tour also includes authentic 19th- and 20th-century medical tools and equipment and a one-of-a-kind historic apothecary that predates the earliest local pharmacy. This is an indoor tour and masks are required for all participants. The house is open for this tour only.
$5 | This activity is open to ages 12 and over.
SATURDAY SPECIAL Receive 20% off both tours when also joining us for the Farm Tour on the same day.

11AM | Thursday
Join your guide for a walk on the wild side of the farm grounds as you discover what the season is up to in the natural world. Phenology is the study of cyclic and seasonal natural phenomena, especially in relation to climate and plants and animals.
$5 | This activity is open to ages 16 (with adult) and over.

These “free-range” activities are self-led and included with your admission to the farm grounds (admission is by donation).

  • Visit with our farm animals in their seasonal, pastured settings. Our animals include chickens and a rooster, dairy and beef cows, goats, pigs, sheep, and a miniature horse named Sadie.

  • Delight your curiosity while on a family-fun scavenger hunt:

    • Search for the “missing” gnomes across the farm grounds.

    • Discover our collection of colorful ecosystem friends in the Children’s Garden.

  • Discover what’s growing in our history-based Vegetable and Herb Exhibit Gardens.

  • Marvel at the natural composting efforts of worms and learn about vermiculture when you discover our worm bin.

  • Birding Fun: “What’s Your Wingspan?” and “Spot the Cardinal.”
Plus, due to the various types of habitat that can be found across the farmstead, we have many species of birds that touch down during their migration or nest—see how many you can spot.

  • Ramble, relax, and rejuvenate—we are located in a beautiful spot, so please take time to enjoy the simple, seasonal pleasures of the Remick farmstead.

  • Walk the Binsack Trail, a .6 of a mile gravel trail that encircles and cuts between the farm’s main grazing pastures.

  • Share a picnic with family and friends—pack-in pack-out picnics welcome! Purchase half-pints of Sandwich Creamery ice cream at our farm store (open Tuesday–Saturday, 10AM-2PM) for dessert, while supplies last.

  • The farm store is open for curbside pickup Tuesday–Saturday, 10AM–2PM. In good weather, store items can be viewed outside, next to the Museum Center. Orders may be placed during your visit and will be packed and ready for pickup when you leave. Half-pints of ice cream are available from our neighbors at Sandwich Creamery, for enjoyment on-site or off (while supplies last).

  • NEW! New Hampshire Heritage Museum Trail passports are available for sale on-site. Visit 18 unique New Hampshire museums and receive free admission for the passport holder. Passports cost $25, a $150 savings off of the regular cost of admissions. The program is a great incentive to travel The Granite State and learn about various aspects of its history. Note: The passports were printed before the COVID-19 pandemic, be sure to check with each individual museum about their current hours of operation before visiting.

  • Take lots of pictures! There is so much to catch your eye you’ll have fun capturing your visit. When posting images on social media, feel free to tag us on Facebook and Instagram and or/use the #RemickMuseum or #RemickFarm hashtag. With your permission, we just might share your images in our feed.
