Experience Remick
See you at the farmstead! We offer healthful experiences for all generations through activities, classes, events, guided and self-guided tours, and workshops.
Brief Site Overview
Your visit to the historic Remick farmstead features buildings found on a traditional dairy farm. The site was once home to Hillsdale Dairy, a dairy business started by Doc Remick in the 1930s and maintained until the early 1960s.
We grow vegetables, a Medicinal Herb Garden and a Children’s Garden — all as interactive exhibits. The Marion Remick Memorial Garden is located at the entrance to the grounds.
Visit the Captain Enoch Remick House (on the National Register of Historic Places) for “Doc Remick’s Medical History Tour,” a guided tour of the medical rooms and apothecary once used by both Drs. Remick (in season and at scheduled times; admission charged).
Self-guided exploration opportunities: Learn about our history through exhibits in the Museum Center. Explore the farmstead grounds, which include self-guided activities in the summer. Spend time at our picnic spots, or walk the Binsack Trail. All self-guided activities are offered by pay-as-you-wish admission.
The Binsack Trail
The Binsack Trail is an approximately .5-mile gravel pathway that skirts the central area of the farmstead, offering sweeping views of the farmstead, sightings of Mount Chocorua and the Ossipee Mountain Range, and access to the highest visitor-accessible spots on the grounds.
The trail has varied terrain — flat to semi-steep — and is open year-round from dawn to dusk.* During the museum’s open hours, your time on the trail can be extended to include the connector pathway between the trail entrances/exits, increasing its length to .65 of a mile. The trail is open to foot traffic only and pets are not allowed.
To access the trail, enter at the farmstead grounds’ entrance off of Cleveland Hill Rd., across from the base of our parking lot path, or at the trail entrance off of Great Hill Rd., next to the large Cattle Barn.
*The trail is not maintained when winter conditions are present, visitors assume all risks.
