Remick-Made Cookbook
Our Remick-Made Cookbook is a unique example of how we’re “preserving the past, to educate the future.”
Preparing foods using historical methods was once an integral part of our story. We did this through Hearthside Dinners and farm-to-table fundraisers. Though those events are in the past, at least for now, the recipes collected in our cookbook share many time-tested recipes from these events, as well as time-honored favorites.
- A simple, country-cooking cookbook with a distinctly New England flavor.
- The recipes bridge the gap between historic and contemporary foods.
- Many of the recipes are introduced with a brief paragraph explaining the recipe’s origin, how it’s been used,
and/or how best to serve it.
Dust off your skillets, stock up on the basics, and give these recipes a try! And don’t worry if your home lacks an open hearth or Dutch oven like the one at the museum — these recipes are perfectly suited for modern kitchens.

The Country Doctor’s Son
Written by June O'Donal, Illustrated by K.M. Johnson
Our namesake country doctors served Tamworth and the surrounding towns for a combined 99 years. Through this engaging and colorfully illustrated story, you can travel with ten-year-old Edwin and his father, Dr. Remick, as they make house calls by horse and buggy. The pair visit various patients as they journey through Tamworth, New Hampshire, in 1913. You’ll gather up some Remick history and more as you tag along on this imagined one-day ride.
A “prescribed,” charming story for kids of all ages!
