Raising Quality Meat at Remick
Meet the Herd
Have you ever wondered where your beef comes from? At Remick, the answer is simple—you can see it for yourself.
Our cattle spend their days grazing our pastures and enjoying fresh air, open space, and attentive care from our staff. As a working farm, we believe understanding where food comes from is an important part of understanding agriculture.
Every visit to the pasture is an opportunity to ask questions, learn something new, and connect with the people and animals that help feed our community. We invite you to stop by, say hello to the herd, and discover the story behind locally raised beef.
Meet the Breed
If you’ve wondered if our smaller black cattle are calves (babies), they are not! They are Lowline cattle, a breed that was developed from naturally smaller Aberdeen Angus cattle. Although they’re more compact than many traditional beef breeds, they’re full-grown adults. Their smaller size makes them easier to manage, gentler on pastures, and a great fit for farms like ours.
Lowline cattle are known for being naturally curious and generally calm. You’ll often notice them watching visitors from across the pasture or slowly wandering over to see what’s happening. A calm herd isn’t just enjoyable to watch; it also contributes to lower-stress animal handling, which is an important part of responsible livestock care.
Every Day Matters
Healthy cattle don’t happen by accident. Every day begins with checking the herd, making sure each animal has clean water, nutritious feed, and everything needed to thrive. We monitor their health, maintain safe fencing, care for our pastures, and work closely with veterinarians whenever needed.
From Pasture to Plate
Many of us have become disconnected from where our food comes from. At Remick, we believe there’s value in reconnecting. Beef doesn't begin in the grocery store. It begins with healthy animals, thoughtful care, and farmers who understand the responsibility they’ve accepted.
We believe it’s important to be honest about agriculture while treating both our animals and our customers with respect. Learning where food comes from helps us appreciate the work, care, and stewardship behind every meal.
Supporting More Than a Farm
When you purchase beef from Remick, you’re supporting much more than dinner. You’re helping preserve a historic working farm. You’re supporting agricultural education for children and families. You’re helping care for our animals and maintain our pastures. You’re investing in local agriculture and helping keep farming traditions alive for future generations. Thank you for being part of that story.
