Pastures, Picnics, and the Past: A BYO Picnic Gathering

July 18 | 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

Picnicking is always welcome at the Remick farmstead, but we especially encourage you to picnic with us on Saturday, July 18, from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m., rain or shine, to celebrate this summertime delight. Bring your own picnic to enjoy outdoors at one of the many picnic tables under the tent and in the open air, or bring a blanket to use as your “table.”

If you have a vintage picnic basket and/or picnicware, you are encouraged to show it off. Feel like dressing up in “picnic attire”? That’s encouraged, too! Do you have a portable acoustic instrument? Bring it along and jam with others who have brought theirs. Bottled water and fresh-popped popcorn will be available for sale, while supplies last.

Indoors, “Picnic-scapes,” an exhibit that celebrates picnicking—features picnicking items from the Remick collection and picnicking-inspired displays from six local organizations—is on display in the Remick Hearth Room on this day and throughout July (unavailable July 4 and 11).
